    About the method

Capital cities are chosen for many reasons: history, geography, politics or compromise. In a surprising number of countries — like Australia, Canada, Brazil, Turkey and Nigeria — the capital isn't the largest or most famous city.

Several capitals were purpose-built. Canberra, Brasília, Islamabad, Abuja and Naypyidaw were planned as new capitals, often to create a neutral seat of government or to develop a new region.

This quiz mixes well-known capitals with trickier ones from every continent. Each question has a 15-second timer, and unanswered questions count as wrong. All questions and facts were written and checked for TestMyPsyche.
